Savage
Dragon #129 is out today featuring an all new G-Man/Mighty Skullboy
Army crossover, and this time, it's drawn entirely by yours truly!
Usually Chris Giarrusso and I draw the strip together. I draw my guys,
he draws his guys and the backgrounds and everything else is a general
mish-mash. This time, Chris was in a deadline crunch so I pitched
in and drawed the whole thing myself. Chris will be drawing a part
2 of sorts to this strip
without me
in the following issue, so you'll get the chance to see each of our
characters interpreted different ways.
Not
that you won't be able to figure out what's going on, but this story
takes place in the middle of a fairly large Comic Bits interdimensional
crisis, so if you want to catch up, check out the strips on Chris's
website.

Lots of pushing the product today, so you might want to take notes.
First up, I wrote and drew a two page back-up story for Stan
Lee Meets The Silver Surfer, which I believe also features stories
by Stan Lee and Mike Wieringo,
and Paul Jenkins and Pasqual Ferry. I don't mean to toot my own
horn, but I'm reasonably confident that my story will be the best
Stilt Man story that Marvel publishes this year. Check out this
panel and judge for yourself. It's out November 22nd, so make sure
you go out and buy like one or a jillion copies and write a lot
of e-mails to Marvel demanding they give me a Stilt Man solo book.
Also, I've become aware that Dark Horse has solicited The
Mighty Skullboy Army trade paperback! You can even preorder it
from Amazon.
This volume collects every Skullboy comic I've done to date. That
includes all the minicomics, the story from Strip Search, the story
from New Recruits, strips from anthologies, and some stuff that has
never been seen before. If you're new to The Mighty Skullboy Army,
a lot of strips can be seen online over here.
At this point in time, I feel that a lot of the earlier strips look
pretty rough, but don't let that dissuade you from this fine bargain.

And speaking of fine bargains,
due to the aforementioned upcoming collection, ALL SKULLBOY MINICOMICS
are on sale in the store! Only a buck
each! Even #7, the latest issue that wasn't even sold in the store
previously. I'm not going to be making any more of these, so they're
sure to be valuable collector's items. Also new to the store is the
SKULLBOY T-SHIRT! This isn't one of those Cafe Press dealies, this
is the real thing sold out of a suitcase in my bedroom. Check it out
and send me some money.

I made it through another San Diego! I'll update with some sketches or
something soon, but in the meantime, check this out! I was mentioned in
Wizard Magazine's Heat Index this month! That's two times, two times! One
might think I was giving them payola, what which I learned about in that
episode of Mathnet guest-starring "Weird" Al Yankovic.
Also, Five Star Pile-up was mentioned on Newsarama!
We still have a few copies left, so I'll probably be offering them for
order online in the near future.

Ug. Not doing so well on the updates, obviously. I don't even have anything
to show you. I don't get it myself. It seems like I'm always working on
something, but have nothing to show for it.
That's not entirely true. Me and my pals Chris
Giarrusso, Gregg Schigiel,
Brian Smith, and Tim
Smith 3 just put together a project where we all wrote six page stories
and picked names out of a hat to see who would draw them. The project is
called 5 STAR PILE-UP and will be available at the conventions we're attending.
Eventually, you'll be able to order it online as well.
Speaking of which, here's my con schedule for this summer if you're
interested. Starting this weekend (June 2md-4th), I'll be at Wizard
World Philly. Then the following weekend (June 10-11), I'll be at the
MOCCA Festival here
in New York City. Finally, I'll be headed to the San
Diego Comic Con July 20-23. If you're at any of these shows, stop on
by! I'll have the usual assortment of mini comics, plus some new prints
and t-shirts.

Well, so far I'm doing
pretty good updating at least once a month. I threw up a couple of new
sketches in the new sketchbook this time. It's all pretty much old stuff
that I dug up out of my archives. I think only two of them were drawn this
year. I've also updated the store, if you haven't seen it yet. CafePress
has started doing black t-shirts, which I know most of you like, so I set
a few up. I'm still trying to decide on a solid t-shirt design to get some
real t-shirts made up with. So far, the best idea I have is Skullboy's
head on a black shirt. It's simple and striking, but I'm afraid it'll just
be like all the other black, skull shirts out there. Any requests?
A few issues of Mad Kids should be out at this time. I've been drawing
a strip called Willy Nilly for them. It's about the many tragic deaths
of this kid named Willy. Also, there's a new strip from Evan Dorkin in
the latest issue, along with a lot of other talented cartoonists. Check
it out, if you're so inclined!

Here's some news I should
have posted earlier, especially since I'm trying to update more frequently
("But why just news," you complain. "What about some actual content? And
what about finalizing this site?" "Leave me alone," I reply. "I'm busy.
But don't forget to still love me."). Wizard Magazine featured The Mighty
Skullboy Army in their "Top 5 Minicomics" sidebar in the latest issue (#174,
if that is still the latest issue). Heck Chris Giarrusso broke this news
weeks ago on his own website.
In fact, that's where I'm ganking this graphic just so you'll believe me.
Thanks Wizard, I take back half... no... two-thirds of the nasty things
I've said about you. But Wizard's not the only one spreading the Skullboy
word, Bild & Bubbla, a Swedish comics magazine (meaning "Picture &
Wordballoon" they tell me) also featured a Skullboy article a while back.
If anyone can translate this, let
me know. I don't remember what I told them. And last but most recently,
NYC24.org interviewed me at the New York Comic Con. Here
is the article. They were way too nice to me and made me feel like a big
shot. I have other news too, but it's a secret and I can't tell you yet.

Happy Valentine's Day
everybody. I was a little stuck for ideas this year and it didn't help
that I completely forgot about it until last night around 11 pm. Fortunately,
a robot is an easy gag. Heck, this gag has probably already been done a
million times. I didn't have time to check.
I was also toying with this Cthulhu
idea, but I was totally overshooting in the artwork department for the
time I had. Here's what it would have looked like. Check back later, I'll
make this a progressive thing and you can see the stages when I do a drawing.

Hey all, check out this
project I'm involved in called Lifemeter!
It's sort of an online into print video game anthology. There's a lot of
cool artists doing their interpretations of their favorite video game characters.
I'm happy to be included with all of that talent. Right now I have an NES
Pro Wrestling piece up in the art gallery. I never owned the game, but
I played it over my neighbor's house a lot. I always picked the Amazon,
mostly because he was weird looking and ate people. If you're one of the
two people who's wondering what happened to the Great Puma, basically I
couldn't find any reference for him. Besides, he wasn't one of the playable
characters. I'm working on some actual comics for the site, but progress
is slow!
If you live in the New York City area and frequent Jim
Hanley's Universe (a fine comics retailer that also stocks The
Mighty Skullboy Army and Space
Chick & Space Chicken minicomics), they're currently taking votes
for this year's "Fanleys" awards. As luck would have it, The Mighty Skullboy
Army has been nominated for best self published comic or minicomic. Stop
by and fill out a ballot if you're willing. You can even download one and
e-mail it to them due to the wonderous internet! The voting is open until
February 15th.
The old
site is still the place to go for the store, old comics, and sketches.
I'll get around to porting it over eventually, but I've got drawing to
do right now.

Batgirl. Everyone's
doing it. I'm a little late to the party, but it took me all week to
get a free moment (Rollergirls requires my full attention). Then, what
I figured was going to be a quick little drawing turned out to be an exercise
in drawing cruddy legs. These ones were
passable.
And yeah, I'm still
working on things around here. Go back to the old
place for anything that's not working yet.

See, I update this website once a year, whether I need it or not. A bit
of a redesign this time.I want to say it's a work in progress, but I probably
won't get around to modifying it for years to come.If something's not working,
it's probably on purpose. My old site is still up here
if you need to get to any of the old stuff that's not functioning. You
could always try and leave a message via one of those li'l comment thingies.
I wanna see if those work.
Sooo, what's new? Well firstly, I have a bran' new Skullboy story featured
in
Dark
Horse's New Recruits book, which came out last week, I believe. Skullboy
and the gang embark on what may be their most profitable venture ever,
a lemonade stand! You can check out a preview and read an interview I did
over at Broken
Frontier.
I'll also be appearing at the New
York Comic Convention, held at the Javits Center here in New York.
That's not until the weekend of February 24th, but you've seen how often
up update.
There's some other new stuff around here too. Some new comics and sketches
and the like. Look around and make yourself at home!
